2020 investigator-led Call has closed - thank you for submitting!
The call closed on the 15th September, and we’d like to thank all 16 applicants and their CTU/CTC collaborators that submitted a study proposal. These proposals will now be thoroughly examined by our three external advisory boards, and we will be able to get back to the applicants before the end of the year with an initial response.
Funding possibilities in BeNeFIT-2 call (opening date mid-October 2020)
KCE and ZonMw are continuing their collaboration and in October will open a second call for the research community to submit clinical trial proposals. The aim of BeNeFIT (Belgium-Netherlands Funding of International Trials) is for Belgian and Dutch institutions to jointly conduct non-commercial, practice-oriented research that is relevant for patients, healthcare providers and policy makers in both countries. The 5 first clinical trials funded in BeNeFIT-1 are starting to recruit patients.
Funding possibilities for ‘rapid’ Covid-19 trials (call open, closing date April 15th 2021)
Our Covid-19 fast track rolling call is still open for applications. All information can be found here. This call is for rapid response proposals i.e. studies that can be up and running within months and rolling meaning that the selection process starts upon submission. The closing date has been prolonged by 6 months (April 15th 2021 13.00).
Progress in studies
We are happy to announce the following important milestones have been reached for these studies:
- FPI (First Patient In) for the CONFIDENT study, a multicentre randomized trial to assess the efficacy of CONvalescent plasma therapy in patients with Invasive COVID-19 and acute respiratory failure treated with mechanical ventilation. The study will recruit patients in 16 centres in Belgium.
- FPI (First Patient In) for the IODA pilot study, feasibility of conducting a pragmatic, randomized trial that compares Immediate versus Optional Delayed surgical repair for treatment of acute anterior cruciate ligament injury. The pilot study will recruit patients in 2 centres in Belgium.

Communication from KCE: are you (or do you know) a patient who wants to give his/her opinion on health research policy?
Patients, families, carers and representatives of patient organisations are invited to participate in an online workshop on involving patients in health research policy of patients in health research policy. Please register before October 4th.
