Ongoing study - Since the BLING III trial (a large-scale international study comparing continuous vs intermittent beta-lactam antibiotics dosing in critically ill patients with sepsis) published its results, at least four new relevant systematic reviews have become available on this topic. In addition to this, the leading research team for BLING, based in Australia, is currently carrying out a cost-effectiveness analysis that will include a Belgian scenario.
A short KCE report will be produced summarising and critically appraising these new studies and incorporating an assessment of the nursing time required for both approaches based on the estimates of the Belgian BLING III participating centres, which we believe will provide a meaningful and complementary perspective to the existing evidence base.
