The research funded by KCE Trials aims to be of the highest scientific quality and we operate to the highest standards. Our main policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are set out below. Our policies are public. SOPs are internal documents made public if they are related to the selection process of research proposals.
Conflict of interest for applicants
The following document sets out the general requirements that apply to the declaration of interests by applicants and the management of potential conflicts of interest in KCE-funded clinical trials.
Conflict of Interest for Advisory boards
This procedure describes how confidentiality is assured and how potential conflicts of interest are identified and managed in relation to the KCE Trials programme. It covers the assessment of proposals in the KCE Trials programme and more specifically, funding decisions.
Clinical Research Transparency Policy
Transparency in clinical plays a critical role in advancing scientific knowledge, improving patient care, and facilitating evidence-based decision making. With this policy, KCE Trials aims to align itself with the highest standards in the field of medical research funding and contribute to the global efforts towards transparency and accountability.
This policy aims to improve the prospective registration and timely disclosure of results of KCE-funded trials, with the objective to increase the likelihood of impact of KCE-funded research through greater transparency.
In parallel with the development of this new policy, we conducted an internal monitoring exercise, assessing the WHO best practice point by point for all trials funded by KCE Trials from 2016 to date.
KCE policy on re-use of study participant data
This policy explains how KCE follows GDPR rules when re-using data from its funded clinical trials for research or healthcare. It’s meant to guide KCE research teams, their Data Protection Officers (DPOs), compliance staff, and external partners who handle or oversee this data.
Investigator Led Workstream SOP
This SOP describes the KCE Trials investigator-led workstream including call for proposals, clinical question prioritisation by panels, review and shortlisting of outlines and prioritisation of full research proposals for funding decision. It describes the processes from the publication of the call until recommendation for funding by the Trials Board (TB) to the Prioritisation Group (PG).
