Planned study - This study will address:
- The scientific (non-)feasibility of the right to be forgotten mission for patients with a chronic illness (considering, in particular, the impossibility of assessing their current prognosis on the basis of historical data). This section will specify the obstacles encountered by KCE.
- The context and ethical dimensions of the right to be forgotten (why should there be a right to be forgotten for the chronically ill?), in order to understand the concept of solidarity (in the context of insurance) and the political and ethical choices it implies in this context. This chapter will address the ethical and political arguments for a solidarity mechanism (as an alternative to the right to be forgotten).
- Compiling a list of the solidarity mechanisms for outstanding balance insurance that exist in Belgium and abroad. The recommendations will focus on two aspects: the current jurisdiction of KCE in the context of the right to be forgotten for chronic illnesses and possible alternatives.
