Withdrawn study - This study will not be initiated. During the scoping phase, it became clear that the gaps and research questions focus on mapping the costs of whole genome sequencing technology. A cost study does not say anything about cost-effectiveness, but it can inform reimbursement policy. However, rapid technological progress – particularly in the field of consumables for sequencing and IT infrastructure – carries the risk that any cost study will quickly become outdated. This raises the more general question of how the RIZIV/INAMI intends to update its nomenclature in the future, after the initial reform. A KCE cost study centred on specific genetic tests would therefore interfere with the current nomenclature reform.
